Combine an EDT RCX C-Link module with a DV FOX direct-from-fiber framegrabber for a simple, robust long range solution for AIA Camera Link cameras. The compact RCX C-Link fiberoptic converter module can be plugged directly into the camera, and connected via fiber to EDT's fiber-input FOX frame grabber, and that's it! No extra cables or adapters are needed.
Below are the most common module / framegrabber combinations for Camera Link base mode (single-connector) cameras. Refer to the block diagram [pdf] for specific module part numbers.
For PCI
RCX C-Link camera link to fiber module
PCI DV FOX fiber optic frame grabber for PCI
LC-LC fiber optic cable, 6' or 200'
For PMC
RCX C-Link camera link to fiber module
PMC DV FOX fiber optic frame grabber for PMC
LC-LC fiber optic cable, 6' or 200'
For PCI Express
RCX C-Link camera link to fiber module
PCIe8 DV FOX fiber optic frame grabber for PCI Express (proposed product)
LC-LC fiber optic cable, 6' or 200'

850NM tranceivers are standard on framegrabbers and modules, and provide a 150-500 meter maximum range depending on camera clock speed and fiber used, see the block diagram [pdf] for specific module part numbers. For extended range of up to 10 kilometers, order the Extended Range option and 1300 nm, 9 micron fiber. For more details on ranges and speeds, see the module and frame grabber data sheets.

With some cameras, interference from power connectors, housing sizes or other mechanical considerations may prevent the RCX C-Link module from being able to be plugged directly into the camera. Adapter cables are available for such situations. To find out if you need an such an adapter, compare the camera's physical specifications with those in the RCX C-Link Users Guide.

PCI DV FOX and PCIe8 DV FOX framegrabbers can be ordered with one (standard), two, or four transceivers, for up to four camera inputs (simultaneous capture subject to bus bandwidth limimitations). The PMC DV FOX framegrabber can be ordered with one (standard), two, or three transceivers.

EDT recommends purchasing a 6' length of our standard fiber to use for bench testing and verification even if you plan to ultimately use a different cable.
