EDT is committed to its customers in the European Union as well as to a clean and healthy environment. We are therefore phasing out our use of certain hazardous substances targeted by the European Union's Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) directive 2002/95/EC.
The RoHS directive limits the use of lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, and the halide-containing compounds polybrominated biphenyl and polybrominated diphenyl ether, often used in the manufacture of electronics components. Eliminating these substances means that electronic equipment can be recycled or incinerated without harming the environment or endangering its inhabitants.
Beginning in 2006, all new EDT products will be designed to meet ROHS Regulations, and selected existing products will be redesigned as well, depending on customer demand and technical feasibility. Products for which RoHS compliance is not feasible may also still be sold, subject to market considerations. When relevant, product data sheets and web page descriptions will note RoHS compliance. If you have questions about compliance plans for a specific product, contact us.
