The PCIe 53B is a complete single slot MIL-STD 1553B interface for PCI Express bus computers, designed to be software compatible with the existing PCI bus version, the PCI 53B.
The PCIe 53B uses an on board embedded processor with local memory, and can be reprogrammed for any 1553 protocol. The PCIe 53B supports the full standard but may be configured to detect any standard command or sub-command as illegal.
Device drivers for Sun Solaris™, Linux and Windows are included with the board, along with utility and example programs and a C language interface library. The driver provides access to the PCIe 53B through standard system I/O and IOCTL calls. Applications developed for the PCI version (PCI 53B) will be compatable with the PCIe8 53B after recompiling/relinking with updated libraries and loading an updated deviced driver.
