The PMC DV-FOX is the PMC form factor fiber optic interface for use with digital cameras. Cameras can be remotely located up to 300 meters from the host computer, up to 10 Kilometers with the Extended Range option. The PMC DV-FOX occupies one PMC slot of the host computer. The camera must have its own fiber optic interface through which it can communicate with the PMC DV-FOX in the host computer. An EDT RCX module converts the Camera Link or LVDS/RS422 signals from most digital cameras to fiber optic cable. Alternately, this fiber optic interface may be incorporated in the camera -- contact EDT if you are interested in doing this.
The PMC DV FOX can be used as an input board for RCX C-Link (Camera Link) or RCX (LVDS/RS422) fiberoptic modules, as in the following block diagrams:
The above are only some of the example configurations, many more combinations are possible. See the separate RCX and RCX C-Link datasheets for more details on on the modules and possible configurations.
Most camera link cameras are supported or supportable when using an RCX C-Link module at the camera end, see the module datasheet and camera link support for details. Many AIA (LVDS / RS-422) cameras are supported, when using the RCX module at the camera end, see the module datasheet and AIA camera support for details.
Computer with supported operating system and available 32 or 64-bit PMC slot, 66Mhz or faster. The board will work in a 33Mhz slot but will only run at half its rated speed. Read this for a broader discussion on making sure your system is adequate for the task of accepting high speed image data with an EDT interface board.
EDT provides several levels of customer support, from phone consultation to custom design of hardware or software at hourly rates. Basic support for installation and initial configuration is included at no extra charge.
To order, contact our sales department or your distributor. Ask for the PMC DV-FOX plus any required conversion modules (RCX C-Link, RCX LVDS or RCX RS-422). Ordering options include the following:
- Standard range or extended
- One or two fiber optic transceivers (/F1 or /F2)
- Number and type of RCX modules: Camera Link, RS-422 or LVDS.
- Fiber Optic cabling
It is also very helpful to know which camera is being interfaced to.
