High Speed, 16-bit I/O Interface for Sun SPARC and UltraSPARC computers

The S16D is a legacy product. Support for existing or newly-acquired boards can not be provided to anyone who did not have S16D implementations that existed prior to the end of 2004.

Features

  • Sun SPARCstation Compatible
  • Single SBus Slot
  • Continuous Input or Output
  • Rates to 10 megabytes per second
  • Supports Sbus 16-byte Burst mode
  • Supports buffered block modes with internal FIFO
  • Programmable Control Signal Configurations
  • 4 gigabyte DVMA Addressing
  • Device drivers for Solaris 1.x (SunOS 4.1.x) and Solaris 2.6+ (SunOS 5.x)

Description

The S16D provides a high speed, 16 bit, continuous data 1/0 interface for SBus computers. This interface is used for computer to device connection where speed and continuous processing are essential. The S16D will support 10 megabyte per second transfers to computers or devices which can support that role.

Applications

The S16D may be used to enable the transfer of data to or from the SPARCstation. Typical applications include A-D and D-A converters, telemetry systems, and video systems.

Software

A standard SunOS loadable device driver for the SPARCstation is included with the S16D. The driver provides access to the S16D through standard and the S16D is provided with a minimal FCodes PROM For identification only. User FCode PROMS may be develpoed for specific applications.

Options

  • Precision impedance cables in 7, 25, and 50 foot lengths
  • Cable adapters
  • Loopback diagnostic connector kit
